complacency?

I cant believe how quickly we get used to things. a clean or messy house, a bad hair cut, smudged glasses, a wierd smell, everything.
Last night our bathroom had an old toilet from the 1900's that no matter how much bleach i scrubbed it with still looked yucky. today we have a toilet from 2005 and I dont even think twice about not having to lift up the handle when I flush even though i was so used to it before.
